Privacy Policy
The RAK Foundation is committed to complying with all applicable provincial and federal privacy laws and regulations.
The RAK Foundation acts in accordance with the principles in the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. These principles address the collection, use, storage and disposal of personal information. We are committed to protecting the privacy of individuals receiving our funding, of our trusted Counsellors, and every donor has the option of remaining anonymous in our publicly available information.
Collection of Recipients' Personal Information
To process the applications for RAK funding, sensitive personal information must be collected. This information is collected by the Counsellor, and the individual signs an Individual Commitment / Consent Form which authorizes the release of the information to The RAK Foundation. This personally identifiable information is visible only to the RAK Director who does the initial processing of the application (where the application is anonymized) and the RAK Foundation Treasurer who disburses funds and benefits.
Other RAK Board Members only have access to the depersonalized information, which is sufficient to make decisions on funding. Even letters of thanks and testimonials from recipients, are anonymized prior to sharing them with Board Members.
Collection of Donors' Personal Information
Donors will of course need to provide personal information such as name and address, if they wish to receive official tax receipts. This information will normally be used by the RAK Foundation for further fundraising and publication of Donor lists on our website. Donors are able to request that their personal information is not used for publication, and that their donations are simply summarized in an “Anonymous Donations†category.
Under Canada Revenue Agency rules, however, this donation information is always available to regulatory authorities.
