Although in our communities we have a broad and complex social net, with significant (yet inadequate) resources being allocated to addictions services - people are falling through the cracks.

What does it take to make a difference in helping a recovering addict? Sometimes it's the simple things like a bus pass to get to recovery group meetings regularly, or a food voucher in the early recovery days just to be able to stay healthy. Sometimes it is simply the transportation costs of getting to a treatment centre or paying for storage of personal goods while a person has to live at that treatment centre for several months. Sometimes it means coming up with that last portion of the treatment centre fees when all other resources have been exhausted - and it's either get to treatment, or a family falls apart.
